November 20, 2009Caribbean Fall Frolic Happy Hour  - The Washington DC Chapter say that it's time to kick up your heels at the first ever Caribbean Fall Frolic Happy Hour! Get an early start on your Thanksgiving Celebrations - Caribbean style! Make new friends and catch up with old acquaintances at Zanzibar on the Waterfront, 700 Water Street SW, Washington DC 20024 at 6 p.m. There is no cover charge before 8 p.m. Be sure to bring your business cards!

UWIAA - Montserrat

November 13-15, 2009Alliouagana Festival of the Word - The Chapter assisted the UWI Open Campus Montserrat with this Literary Festival, which took place at the Cultural Centre, Little Bay, Montserrat. The theme was "Celebrating words written, spoken, sung and performed" and guests included Funso Aiyejina, Austin Clarke, Carolyn Cooper, Howard Fergus, Merle Hodge, Marie-Elena John, Hollis Liverpool (Chalkdust), Earl Lovelace, Rachel Manley, Pauline Melville, Gordon Rohlehr, AdZiko Simba, Edgar Nkosi White, Yvonne Weekes and others


UWIAA - Trinidad and Tobago
August 31, 2009 - Independence Boat Cruise
The UWIAA Trinidad and Tobago Chapter had their Independence Boat Cruise on Monday, August 31, 2009 on board the "Treasure Queen " (Pier 2 Chaguaramas). The theme was "Back in Time" and Independence Colours were worn by those who came (i.e. Red, White or Black). The 3 hour cruise (7 p.m. - 10 p.m.) was extremely enjoyable!

UWIAA - Cayman
August 6, 2009 - Oldies Music and Dance 6:00 p.m. - Midnight
The UWIAA Cayman Chapter celebrated Jamaican Independence on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Open Campus Centre. Graduates and friends enjoyed Jamaican music and food! Tickets were only $10.00 and the proceeds collected assisted student scholarships.


UWIAA - Florida
July 25, 2009 -
Health Fair 9:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m.  
The UWIAA Florida Chapter and the North Broward Medical Center put on a Health Fair on Saturday, July 25, 2009. It took place from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Ascension Peace Presbyterian Church. There were FREE blood pressure checks, cholesterol screening, pain management advice and more ....It was held at 2701 N. State Road 7, Lauderhill, Florida 33313

UWIAA - Washington DC

June 28, 2009 - Church Service and Reception at 4:00 p.m.  
The UWIAA Washington DC Chapter celebrated its 20th Anniversary with UWI Vice Chancellor E. Nigel Harris as the featured speaker. This was Professor Harris' first official visit to meet with alumni and other UWI friends in the DC metro area. It was held on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church at 701 Oglethorpe Street, NW, Washington DC 2001

UWIAA - Trinidad and Tobago

Annual Car Rally at 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  
The UWIAA Chapter in the Trinidad and Tobago hosted their Annual Car Rally in association with the Trinidad Rally Club which included UWIAA members as drivers. They went all over the country, ending up at the TSTT Staff Club, not far from the campus. Afterwards there was a "lymne" with games, music, food and fun!


UWIAA - The Bahamas
June 25, 2009 
- Town Hall Meeting at 7:30 p.m.  
The UWIAA Chapter in the Bahamas had the UWI Vice Chancellor E. Nigel Harris meet with alumni at a Town Hall meeting in Nassau at the Paul H. Farquharson Conference Centre, Police Headquarters. The Meet and Greet began at 6:45 p.m., followed by the Town Hall Meeting from 7:30 - 9.00 p.m. This was an opportunity for graduates to meet the Vice Chancellor in a fairly informal setting. 


UWIAA - Toronto

Annual Luncheon
The UWIAA Toronto Chapter held another successful luncheon at the Hawthorn Room, Delta Toronto Airport West, 5444 Dixie Road,
Mississauga, ON, L4W 2C2. Alumni had a lot of fun and donations to UWI were accepted ("What you can give") towards the scholarship that they give on an annual basis to the UWI campuses.
